Whitbread PLC, founded in London in 1742, grew from Samuel Whitbread's pioneering porter brewery into one of Britain's best-known brewing names. Its historic Chiswell Street site helped shape London's beer culture for generations. Though the company later left brewing to focus on hospitality, the Whitbread name remains linked to fine ales, industrial innovation, and the capital's brewing heritage.
